Insurance
customers can track their motor repairs
The Star InTech - Feb 8, 2005
KUALA LUMPUR: PanGlobal Insurance Berhad
(PGI) will use PAC Total Solutions Sdn Bhd's locally-developed Repair Tracker
software to allow its customers to track repair works on their motor vehicles.
Repair Tracker measures the "cycle time," or the time taken to complete a job
via BodyNet, a workshop management system that produces estimates, and
automatically produces job cards and invoices, PAC Total Solutions (PTS) said
in a statement.
Financial terms were not disclosed.
"PGI is the first general insurance company in Malaysia to implement this online
motor repair tracking system to its panel of more than 300 motor vehicle
repairers," said Edwin Wong, PGI chief executive officer.
"In addition to the SMS (short message service) car insurance price checking,
online purchase of car insurance and interactive lifestyle rewards portal,
Repair Tracker augments our strategy of providing value-added services to all
policyholders by adopting cutting edge technology," he claimed.
Repair Tracker's monitoring function will allow PGI to keep tabs on their
repairers' work by monitoring repair cycle times of their policyholders'
vehicles. It will also track the number of vehicles being repaired at any one
time, and the value of the estimates given by the repairers together with an
up-to-date list of replaced parts.
Workshop staff can use Repair Tracker to improve their customer service by
increasing the transparency of the repair process, ensuring that customers know
the exact status of the repairs being carried out on their vehicles.
The software allows workshop managers to operate in a more efficient and cost
effective manner, said PTS managing director Steve Miller.
"They can monitor their cycle times and correctly judge the time taken to
repair each vehicle, which will then enable PGI to provide an actual completion
date to its customers as value-added customer service," he said.
Under the terms of the arrangement with PGI, repairers who sign up will be
offered the BodyNet system to operate their workshop. Stages of each repair job
are recorded and provided to PGI for analysis, allowing payments for repairers
to be expedited more efficiently, decreasing bottlenecks.
Repair Tracker has been launched in Britain through PTS' partner, Bodynet UK
Ltd.
PTS, a venture company of HeiTech Padu Bhd, introduced Malaysia's first
electronic motor vehicle repair claims solution in 1998.
